Good Morning!
Revelation 3:20 "Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends.

Eh? We surrender to Jesus, he comes in and we sit down to dinner as friends! What is this? Who is this guy?

Imagine having a castle in medieval times, you have raised the drawbridge, dropped the portcullis, barred the gates, and manned the walls with your troops. The armies of the entire world are arrayed against you and your doom has come. However, just before the artillery begins firing, their general comes to the door and knocks. He promises mercy and asks to sit down to dinner to discuss the terms of your surrender. However, in the world we know that dinner will probably never be held. The conqueror will come as soon as the gates are opened, destroy the defenses and sack the castle. The defenders and innocents inside will be led away into slavery. Sounds quite familiar to us, doesn’t it?
Then there is this Jesus. We surrender to his knock and know the voice of our shepherd. But there is no discussion of the terms of our surrender, no armies arrayed outside the gate. He comes in and we sit down to dinner as friends. No surrender is so sweet as the one we give to Christ. The conqueror does not ransack the castle; he starts to clean up. A little here and a little there, a dark corner is washed with Son-shine. A little locked chest, a Pandora’s Box, in the darkest cellar is surrendered and broken open for the light to shine in.
In the tallest tower a new light shines, a new owner has taken control. Let your light shine for the world to see, for the armies of the world will not prevail against this new owner. Jesus Christ is Lord!
