January 23, 2007

Good morning! When Jesus spoke of how difficult it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God, I thought that he may have had talents and physical attractiveness in mind also. We have all known someone who grew up as a physically attractive person. From their youth people complimented and flattered them until they were convinced of their own physical beauty. Talented people can fall into the same prideful trap. The world seems to bow at the feet of these people of talent and beauty in many cases. However, we know that God doesn’t even want this world; there will be a new heaven and earth when Jesus returns. Why would we want the world at our feet when it will be gone on that great day? Jesus also promises that from whom much is given, much will be expected. Are you blessed with talents or beauty? Don’t wait for or expect the world to bow at your feet, as the angels did when people tried to worship them, point to the Father and let them know to worship only him. All of us have beauty and talent in Christ Jesus, we must use it to worship God the Father and bring glory to his name. If a person is given nothing in this life, then it follows that God will expect nothing from them. However, I don’t believe that is ever the case. Everyone has something to use to the glory of God.
It is easy to dwell on past failures and defeats; trust in Jesus and you will not fail. Always remember that no matter what it may appear to be in this life, the final judgment rests with God. Efforts which may seem wasted from our point of view may prove otherwise when shown to us from God’s vantage point.

God bless you this day!
