So, we have elected a new president. Does this mean that I dropped all prayers for our nation and breathed a relieved sigh that the election was over? Well, no and yes. This morning I felt a stronger burden than before to pray for revival and awakening in our nation, and it has nothing to do with the candidates or the winner, but it may have something to do with the election and all its negative news being finished at last. Relieved of the burden for praying over ballots and voters, I can turn to praying for salvation for all.
The presidential election and the many other results of this election make for an interesting day. Hopefully some persons across our nation can behave better today than they have in the weeks leading up to the election. (Alas, already news is spreading that some few have not.) Whichever 'side' we have landed on this morning; whether we see the vote as a victory or a defeat, I hope that we can recall the command of our Lord Jesus to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Salvation and loving one another, now wouldn't that solve quite a few amendment/proposition/ballot referendum/vote thingies before they even needed an election! I'm not asking for much on this interesting morning, just a complete reversal from the sin in which all were born, almost like a rebirth. Hey...maybe I'm onto something there!
Love in Christ,Bucky
