February 4, 2007

Good Morning! A bit of good news this morning, in more ways than one; the predictions show a bit of warming in our weather over the next 10 days. We could receive some more snow in that time though! How we do look forward to the times of peace with nice weather. Do you often wonder that we cannot seem to find that peace in our lives? Perhaps the key is as Dr. Kennedy says, practice and pursuit. I have heard of people who must practice calming techniques throughout the workday; it would seem that I am one of those. In America, we have been trained since early youth to avoid getting caught in doing nothing. As children, teenagers, in the service, or at work, we cannot sit still lest someone “find something for us to do”. Thinking of your workplace, could you really expect 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon to meditate on the Word? Would a co-worker or boss, seeing you obviously meditating, wait until you finished before interrupting? Is there even a quiet place to go at your workplace? No and no, I think we all know the answers to those questions. However, we must ask the Lord for strength and ingenuity in finding that place and time. Like most things, some of us will be better at finding peace and others, like me, will need to practice more diligently, perhaps even experiment with different methods. God will show each of us the way to peace and we know already that Jesus is The Way, to peace, to love, to eternal life. Jesus is the answer for all of us; go and seek out which method he wants you to use each day and I will also.

God’s peace be with you!
