February 27, 2007

Good morning! Today is thought to have been (i.e. they really don’t know) the birthday of Emperor Constantine, the first Christian ruler. There is your bit of Christian history for today! If to believe is to relax and trust in the Lord, why do we feel all this pressure and stress? We shouldn’t, that is the point of believing. God knows that we perform poorly under great stress, despite what the world would have us believe. There will be times of trial, but God will not stress us beyond our ability, when resting in Him, to withstand. The master craftsman does not break the metal he is working on! However, in this life we accept far too much stress upon our minds from our employers, friends, and especially our own high standards. Just who are we trying to impress? If it is other people, then we should know better than to attempt that. If it our own self, our standard of perfection, then we should know that cannot be achieved either! Do we want to impress God? Then we should believe in his Son and trust in Him!
A new movie is on the way… be wary of this one. They claim to have found the tomb and bones of Jesus. What can one say to such things? We know there are no bones of Jesus to be found. Those making the movie should know that “Jesus”, a later form of Joshua, was a common name at that time, as was James, Jude, Judah, John, and several others. Finding a box or ossuary with the Hebrew characters for “Jesus” on it proves nothing. Even archeologists are not signing on for this one, saying that it is poor history, but powerful television. There it is; someone is out to make a few bucks and shame on the Discovery Channel for promoting something like this.
Let me remind you that we do not worship an empty tomb, or a cross, or a cup; we worship Jesus, the Son of the Living God!
