February 26, 2007

Good morning, a new day in the service of the Lord! I must admit that with a couple of small exceptions I have not kept up with the latest Hollywood offerings. So it should be no surprise that I missed the Academy Awards last night. As I recall the show is too long, the voting process somewhat suspect, and the already overpaid actors get to take home bags of goodies worth thousands of dollars. The “big” day for the stars is over and it still looks like Monday around here. One day our big day, this life we live here on earth, will be over. Those things we cling to will not follow us to our eternal destination. Jesus saw in the rich young ruler, a man with one big anchor holding him to the earth. Perhaps this man had worked hard for all that he owned and he thought of all those hours of work when Jesus told him to distribute his fortune to the poor. We don’t know, but that holding on to his possessions left him tied to a doomed planet. Please don’t let your possessions or money become a big ol’ boat anchor holding you down and I will trust in God for the same thing. We all want to see each other in Heaven with Jesus!

To God be the glory!
