A Time of Faith Building

For most of us, success hasn't spoiled us yet because we are not quite sure what that success thing is they talk about. However, we would like to maybe try some of it to see if it suits us. Perhaps a house in Hawaii for living along with a more modest home near relatives for visiting. A couple of cars just to play with and a really good one for when it is needed. A certain amount of money for investing and a plentiful flow to the ol' bank account to pay the bills - we have a pretty good idea of what we think success is, we just haven't experienced it quite yet.

On the other hand, we asked for God to build our faith when we gave ourselves to Jesus, and by now we have a much better idea of what trials and tribulations mean. We have more than once entered into a time of faith building...and the flesh didn't much like it. Times were lean, the flow to the bank account was too little or shut off for some reason, and the bills piled up without resolution. We may have enjoyed more than one car, but that was in the fervent hope that one of them would start to get us to work, if we had any employment to drive to that is. One house was more than we could afford and just a short vacation in such an expensive place as Hawaii was way out of our reach. We were building our faith in God, and probably didn't even see it for the tears we shed over our circumstance.

You know, young grasshopper, I'm not sure that we will be able to see all the faith our Lord built up in us until that day when He takes us to our eternal home. The struggle down here has grown a strong and tall tree of faith that only the Lord can see right now. We might become proud if we could see all that He has grown in us through trial, tribulation, struggle, and strain. And no, the flesh does not like faith building; it wants the easy life with luxury.

Have a faithful struggle today,
Bucky
