What Can We Say About Tomorrow?

Sure, we can make some plans and cause God a chuckle or two. We might even say what we think will happen on the day following this one. We have a likely knowledge of what probably will happen given our past experience of work and our workplace, but what do we really know about tomorrow? Nothing at all. That is a sobering assessment of my intellectual and analytical powers!

Yes, only God really knows tomorrow. For us it is that day after this one that continually escapes our grasping imagination. As today arrives, tomorrow is one more day away. What happens on the morrow is beyond my control. Well, praise the Lord for that! I would much rather it be under my God's sovereign control than in my fumbly-stumbly fingers.

We can say with all confidence that our Lord and Savior holds the future in His mighty hands. We can tell of the love and goodness we see today, and know for sure that God's wonderful good works will continue in His love when tomorrow becomes today. We know without doubt that the salvation given on the cross so long ago is just as effective on that next day as it is on this day.

This morning, lift a cup of your favorite morning beverage and give the glory to God, the Holder of our tomorrows.
