Forget the Word of the Lord, I'm Going It Alone Today

Uh huh, that ought to work out real well for you; do you mind if I stand far away and off to the side a bit? Your disaster is imminent and I don't want to be caught up in it.

We know better, but sometimes that little earthly rebel in us wants to stand up and say something like that title on a fair morning. Perhaps things are going so well that the little rebel wants to take some credit for himself. After all, the rewards of this life are surely pointing to doing something right, right? On the contrary! We say, peace with the world likely points to the lack of something right in a life. You may have not declared for the Lord and the world considers you one of its own. The world has no hatred for those who do not love Jesus and believe in Him. Maybe, but the world does seem to have plenty of hate to go around. However, there is a special hatred it bears for the Son of God, and we share in it when we join in His salvation.

"The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil." (John 7:7)

Ah, the Lord Jesus told His brothers that the world cannot hate them. So, if you don't believe in Jesus yet, as His brothers did not at that time, the world cannot hate you. Those of us who have believed in Him and have been reborn in Christ, we do have the world's hatred because He was first.

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! (Matt 10:24, 25)

Oh to be like my Teacher and Master! One day that little rebel who likes to spout the worst at times will be vanquished forever, not in my strength but in His.

Have a great Thursday in Christ Jesus!
Bucky
