President Washington's Birthday

Good...afternoon, my brothers and sisters in Christ! This is one of those days where the morning does not go according to my usual routine. Rebooting computer, slow and stupid movement in my thinking parts, coffee doesn't do its job (I still drink decaf), whatever the disruption to the routine, work time arrives and something still isn't done. Maybe it is more than one thing that doesn't get done, because as you well know when a morning starts out bad, it may be all day before things can get back into whack. I'm not even sure what 'into whack' would be, but I was there when they went out of whack. But that's nothing.

Every now and then, a story comes along that reminds us of how good we have it. Yesterday it was yet another house fire in our little county, and this morning it was confirmed another person died in the fire. Later, we heard from a lady who was driving just a few car lengths from a bridge going out in a flash flood. She watched a truck plunge into the flood and the driver lost his life. A bad morning is nothing to these tales of woe. Perhaps our Lord Jesus gave us the Revelation for that very reason.

Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in a bunch of little problems when life-altering events are going on for someone else. A mountain is galloping by and we are focused on the molehill in front of us. There are days when we are reminded that our problems are nothing; the real suffering is going on all around us where our prayers and compassion are needed.

Have a glorious day and wish ol' George a happy birthday,
Bucky
