Happy President's Day! As the separation of decades erodes the importance of this holiday from our weak and earthly minds, I search for a verse in God's word to make my point. It won't cooperate. And with that, I realize that God's word was not given to make my point but that I might learn His points. A disciple follows his master and does not run ahead to point out the way the master should go.
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master." (Matt 10:24)
How easily a verse comes to make His teaching point!
The flesh still wants the mastery, and thus it seeks justification for its actions, desires, and lusts through the Word of God. Even our enemy, the devil, tried to use God's word to tempt the Christ, but was answered from the scripture in all points. We don't want to be on that side of things, and through the Spirit of God living in us we learn to see the Lord's light shining in the Word. Always it is easier to step down into the darkness and more difficult to climb up into the light of Jesus. Praise God the Master lifts us up!
