Jesus the Pioneer

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” John 14:3-4

Now there is a word to compliment a person with. Pioneer: one who goes before preparing a way for others to follow. Actually it is more of a fact than a compliment. Either one is a pioneer or you are one of those following behind the pioneer. Many a pioneer probably didn't set out to become one. The pioneer of a town may have been trying to get away from everyone else. "Why would anyone want to live way out there?" Later, others found out why it was a pretty spiffy place to live and a town was born.

Others may have decided that anywhere else had to be better than where they were and became unwitting pioneers. But our Lord Jesus declared His way and that those who believe would follow. Not only would He go first and prepare the way, but He would return and guide us home. Guides in our nation's history held just such a place, perhaps in honor of our Lord. Those who knew the way would return along the trail (Alone?!) and guide others along that established way. Jesus is of course in no danger having faced His temptation and overcome them all. This is who will lead us home along the way He pioneered, the Lion of the tribe of Judah with all the heavenly host at His command. I don't think we need to be fearful for the future.

Have a great Saturday!
