It's Been Here

For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth."  Romans 9:17 from Exodus 9:16

By now we may be just a bit weary of the smoke over us. We dare not complain though for we have heard of the suffering of those much closer to the flames. We may be just a bit tired of the drought conditions this summer. We dare not complain though because another area of the gulf coast is being inundated with too much water even now. My ancestors had a bit of a tough go... oh boy, don't go there in this offended age! For some we can never suffer enough to merit the hearing of any complaint from us. I'm okay with that, for the word of the Lord is my comfort and joy as the darkness of the world and the lawlessness of man increases upon the Earth.

As Paul uses a statement from the Exodus in his letter to the Romans, we are pleased to see that God raises up both evil rulers and suffering saints for the same purpose - to declare His name in all the earth and to show His power in us. Let us not confuse the two though: for the pharaoh it was a hardened heart and harder lessons, but for us it is a renewed heart and a loving God. The name of the Lord our God has been here, and we live in the grace of our Savior, Jesus.

May God's saving power shine through us today!
