Hope of Rain

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45

The way to become children of our heavenly Father is set down by His Son Jesus. And it goes against everything the flesh would have us do for our enemies. If I claim to be a son of God the Father, then I have to love my enemies and do all those other things AND they get rain on their garden too? Could I just try really hard on those first things and we let their garden dry up as a sign that they are getting what they deserve? No, love goes all the way.

We rejoice with those who do not believe in God when their garden thrives in the merciful rain God has sent. The time we have left here before the end is a great mercy given to all of us by our Father God. Our faith would be weak indeed if we only believed in God because everything went successfully for us and our garden produced bountifully in the rain that the heathens did not get. We would be just like those fair-weather friends of Job if we accused all those who suffered loss of unbelief. We have a hope of rain today, praise God that enemies, persecutors, spiteful users, and those who curse at us will receive God's bountiful provision on this day.

Have a bounteous day in Christ!
Bucky
