April 17, 2007

Good morning and enjoy another great day in the Lord! We have another great prayer need today; I am sure that you will have heard the news of another campus shooting and yes, this one is worse than all the previous ones. We still have the power of prayer for the children and their families; our Redeemer lives and he is not blind to these tragedies.
As long as our schools continue to teach evolution and humanism in place of creation and Jesus, we will continue to read of violent acts. I realize the reasoning of the world would find fault with what I just wrote. The connection between a school’s curriculum and one man’s choosing to commit mass murder may seem illogical to the secular world. However, consider that evolution says that we are accidents in a long chain of accidents which led to our current state and that there is nothing beyond this short life. Humanism says that all humans are basically good and they simply must be trained in logic and reason to become productive members of society, and guess what, that’s all there is to this life.
Once we come to know the saving grace of Jesus and the joy he gives, the depression of humanism and evolution becomes obvious. I would much rather be the unique creation of a loving God than the result of some strange, accidental combination of electricity and chemicals some millions of years ago. If a person truly believes in evolution, then they become free to take life from others. That person may even believe that they are an agent of relief, ending the suffering of those caught up in the struggle to survive. I don’t have all the answers to why someone would commit an act of this type, but from the other side I can see the hopelessness of the world. Take a look at the world and consider the rather bleak outlook that our only hope lies in perpetuating the species. Does that give you reason for joy? No, my hope lies in Jesus, and I will trust in him alone.

God loves you and so do I,

Bucky
