Thunder and the Lord are associated quite often in the Bible. Even in this age a loud thunderstorm can terrify or alarm us with its volume. With no control over the blast of sound, humans and beasts alike have been stopped in their tracks by fear. In 1 Samuel 7:10 some Philistines tried to sneak up on Israel during an offering until the Lord sent such a thunder that they were struck with confusion. A little baby talk in the title today does not wipe away our respect for the power of the Lord's thunderstorms. However, we also know that is but one of His creations, and that likening His power or voice to thunder is our poor attempt to compare the power we cannot measure with something at least familiar to us.
Great and awesome is the power of our Lord!
