Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Revelation 1:7
Whether the week has wearied me, or the night's sleep was interrupted too much, or a little sickly sickness has a hold of me, there are those days when I long for the return of my Lord Jesus. When this verse comes along in the Revelation though, I find it hard to understand the wailing. Whatever can be the matter with them?
Of course we know that there are those who refuse to believe in our Lord Jesus and they do not look forward to the time of His return. Some go so far as to refuse to believe there even is a Him to look forward to or that He has a Father in Heaven. To deny such love and goodness as our Lord offers to us would certainly cause us to wail. So, perhaps that is the reason for all the wailing.
Praise God that He is here right now, today, in the presence of His Holy Spirit in us!
