A Week

“For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”  Genesis 7:4

Sometimes we may entertain ourselves with thoughts of the end times and how it would be nice to know the date. We may want to give some thought to being content with what God has given us by His word. Noah got a seven-day notice from the Lord. A week. Think what you or I might do with seven days before the destruction of all living things. A week. This is not an exercise to put your witnessing on the spot. You've done that. We know the time is short in a general way. This is about keeping faith in the Lord when suddenly the stress goes right to the top of the scale. A week? Was repentance a thing in Noah's time? Were prophets sent out to warn the world? Noah and the kids were busy loading animals right up to the fateful moment. Was there no time for prayer for the city down the valley, the town on the hill? Was prayer even a thing in Noah's time? A week...so long when we await something we desire, but so short when given notice of the world's end.

Thank You, dear Lord, for the blessing of life in Your Son, Jesus!
