For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, And makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth— The LORD God of hosts is His name. Amos 4:13
Mountains, wind, thoughts, morning darkness - all big, unknowable, or scary things to us from our little windblown cottage on the plains. And this weekend it has been easy to be reminded of the wind for sure. In this verse from Amos we see God in charge of the creation of these big things; we see God in charge of these unknowable things. In this world of today where the hot winds sweep across seas of angry people, we need the Lord and to be reminded that He is not taken by surprise in this latest thing that flashes across the news.
This present darkness is indeed the darkness of morning, that darkness right before the dawn when the warrior is most likely to despair of living to the next day. The heated winds blowing across this land have their day, but the breath of the great red dragon will soon be stilled. He who treads the high places will soon come down to take us home. The LORD God of hosts is His name.
Rejoice in the Lord today, Bucky
